Celebrating 15th Birthday – Singapore Portrait Photography Studio

Celebrating Tomato Photo’s 15th Birthday – Portrait Photography Studio Since 2008

This month marks Tomato Photo’s 15th birthday of doing portrait photography of kids and families from all walks of life and ages, from 0 to 102 years old!

Tomato-Photo-History-Infographic

What a journey it has been! We started out in the corner of a bedroom of Hart’s parents’ home, upgraded our space a couple of times and finally in 2018, we managed to purchase our very own studio space and renovated it to fit the needs of the families for portrait photography we service.

We also received exciting news that we are in the top 10 list of “The Finest Photo Studios in Singapore”, organized by Singapore’s Finest Services.

As fulfilling as our journey has been, we are forever grateful to the real heroes of our growth – the clients of Tomato Photo! for Portrait Photography.

Especially the families who have been with us since day 1, supporting us over the years – we are so glad to have you with us!

And for newer portrait photography clients who believe in us and see the value of preserving photographic memories, we would not be where we are without you too!

Thank you everyone, for your support, in more ways than one!

Time Waits For No Man!

One thing we share in common with our clients is that we appreciate the value of portrait photography and we show our families love by investing our time and resources in creating photographs, be it through a smart phone for the gram, investing in a digital camera, or hiring a professional photographer.

Of course, there are many ways to show that we care about the important people in our lives. But there is no doubt that freezing moments through a photograph is one of them.

Would you bother taking a photograph of something if it does not matter much to you in some way?

Another thing we all have in common is that we know how fast time flies, and life keeps moving on, waiting for no one.

Whether you relate to this in terms of aging parents, or growing babies (or both!), the fact remains that time moves along as it is meant to.

Our parents will not be around forever, and our babies will outgrow their baby phases quickly.

However, portrait photography are a kind of super power that allows time to standstill at the point of image capture.

Professional Family Photographs allow you to freeze time so that the time spent with your family is documented beautifully, and can be proudly displayed in your home, for everyone to smile at lovingly.

What Can You Expect From Tomato Photo Studio?

Being in the industry for 15 years has given us the time, insight and experience to grow and cater to the needs of the families we photograph through portrait photography.

Here’s a list of things that you can look forward to with Tomato Photo:

1. Master Photographer Hart is great with babies, toddlers, teenagers, adults and seniors (basically people of all ages). His ability to handle children and engage with the elderly during smaller or big multi-generational family portraits is a bonus.

2. The ability to capture the moments that you want. Hart’s forte is in getting your kid’s expressions – the ones that parents notice daily but are impossible to capture themselves! #noforcedsmiles

3. The assurance that your children are in Hart’s good hands.

4. Hart’s creativity and artistic vision.

5. Consistency is key and Hart strives to achieve this in every session, for every client.

6. Tomato Photo’s quick turn around time of 48 hours.

7. Online ordering system, and complimentary local delivery. This means you see us only once (for the photoshoot) – you can order your photos online from anywhere in the world.

8. Tomato Photo’s purpose-built and cosy studio that is wheelchair friendly and easily accessible for anyone with mobility concerns. There are no stairs and a sheltered drop off is available with plenty of parking space.

9. Last but not least, Hart’s ability to make people smile from the heart.

So, if you think that we are a good fit, feel free to fill in the form below, give us a call or WhatsApp on 8858 0088, or simply email us at info@tomato.sg to have a chat.

If you’re like me who don’t take family studio shots often, you’ll want to pick one where everything will turn out beautiful. Not all studios are the same. The lighting at Tomato is SO MAGICAL. There are interesting shadow details that gives the photos so much depth. Plus Hart (the only photographer) is great with kids. The combination of these are priceless. Your family deserves the best. Pay a bit more. You’ll be happy you did when you see the results.

Worked with Hart for the first time this month for a newborn and family shoot. Hart was able to communicate with my toddler who cooperated on posing photos with us and our newborn. The photos that came out were really nice, candid, and professional - everything that we expected from the shoot. The session also was not draggy and everything was done quickly with really good photos. The photos were also well edited quickly and we received the preview within a day. Thank you Hart!

Hart is just brilliant with kids. He’s able to engage and quickly make the kids feel comfortable with him, that they actually follow instructions… most of the time. He’s also extremely gentle with newborns and gives you every confidence he knows what he is doing. The result? Amazing family photos!

Did a multi-generation shoot of 25pax with Hart, a seemingly daunting task that Hart handled with such ease. He gave us time to relax and settle, and took effort to know each of us so he could suggest placements and positions. He is deft at handling kids, bringing out their natural smiles, and patiently coaxed a crying toddler into smiles. He may not be the cheapest but he brings out the best of the subjects, through a very enjoyable experience.

Importantly, the outcome is awesome and is something I would cherish for many years to come. Thanks Hart!

Planning An Extended Family Portrait – This Is What You Should Know

Planning An Extended Family Portrait – Why?

An extended family photoshoot is a wonderful opportunity to bring your entire family together and capture memories that will last a lifetime. There are many reasons why you should plan for an extended family photoshoot, including:

  1. Capturing precious memories: An extended family photoshoot is a chance to capture memories with family members you may not see often or may not see again. These photographs will be treasured for years to come and will serve as a reminder of the love and bond that exists within your family.
  2. Celebrating milestones: An extended family photoshoot is a perfect way to celebrate milestones such as birthdays, anniversaries, and other special occasions. These photos will capture the joy and excitement of these milestones and will serve as a reminder of the happy times you shared together.
  3. Creating family heirlooms: An extended family photoshoot will produce images that can be passed down from generation to generation. These photographs will become family heirlooms that will be cherished for years to come.
  4. Fun and bonding experience: An extended family photoshoot is a fun and bonding experience that brings family members closer together. It’s a chance to laugh, reminisce, and create new memories with the people you love.

In conclusion, an extended family photoshoot is a wonderful investment in preserving your family’s memories and creating lasting family heirlooms. It’s a chance to celebrate milestones, bond with loved ones, and capture precious memories that will be treasured for generations to come.

Here are a few things to consider and take note of in order to make the process go smoothly. when planning an extended family portrait.

1. Set A Date For Your Extended Family Portrait

Give everyone plenty of notice: Depending on the size of your family and how spread out they live, it can take some time to organise everyone’s schedules. So, it’s important to give everyone as much notice as possible to increase the chances that everyone will be able to make it.

We understand it can be challenging when coordinating an optimum timing for everyone in the family, however, if this shoot is important, people will make time, rearrange their usual schedules and try their best to make it for this photoshoot. Afterall, most families only do extended family photoshoots once every couple of years.

Contingency Plan

Best case scenario is definitely a time when everyone can gather in-person to complete this photoshoot. In the event when one family is down with flu and can’t make it; and the shoot must go on because one of the family member will be leaving the country that very night, this is where the possibility of composite family portraits can be explored. This option requires the photographer to possess highly technical lighting, posing and photoshop ability and advanced planning to pull it off. That said, photographers aren’t magicians but can certainly make it happen IF clients let us know in advanced before the shoot. Below is one of the composite extended family portrait done recently.

2. Choose A Family Photographer Experienced in Taking Extended Family Portraits

When it comes time to choose a photographer, you’ll want one who is experienced and knows how important your family’s portraits are. Make sure they have the capabilities needed for an extended family shoot with lots of people, different ages in tow – from babies in arms to seniors in wheelchair and anything in between.

3. Photo Studio – Suitable for Extended Family Portrait

With extended family portrait, apart from selecting a studio that is spacious enough to accommodate your big group, it is inevitable that we may encounter family members who have mobility issues.

Multiple change rooms and spacious washrooms with wheelchair accessibility would therefore be convenient, plenty of parking is also very important. Our studio can easily fit 25 pax comfortably and have photographed 36 pax like the image above.

Alternatively, home shoots are also possible. Learn more about Where to do your professional family portrait  and the  15 Tips on how to select the best family photo studio for your family shoot

4. Scheduling Flexibility

At times, we get clients telling us that a family member was admitted/re-admitted to the hospital. In times like these, we understand and will reschedule the session to another day.

At other times, there is only a small window of opportunity to get an extended family portrait done and its a last minute and urgent shoot. Whenever possible, we will try our best to make it happen for your family. We have done last minute late night shoot for a family at home right after one of the family member returned home from hospital.

5. Rates

Whilst we all plan to have memories of the extended family preserved, the topic of rates will definitely come up tops. It is very important that the family members are fully aligned on the fees and charges of the photoshoot and its inclusions or product prices. Different studio, different business models. Learn more on  15 Tips on how to select the best family photo studio for your family shoot

6. Turnaround Time

If you are like us who always want our things done yesterday and don’t like waiting for things to happen, we get it!

Most clients love to see their photos as quickly as they can after the shoot; and receive the final products quickly. At Tomato Photo, you get to see your edited photos online within 24-48 hours from shoot; and products delivered within 1-2 weeks from your order and approval.

Speed of product deliverables will depend on how quickly you place your order.
