Family Photography Session at Emerald Hill with Doktor’s family

Hello all,

Emerald Hill has been one of my favorite place because of its unique architectural design… I had privilege to photograph some of these historical houses over the years and each and every single one of them are so unique and interesting. So Emerald Hill hold a special place in my heart when it comes to Singapore.

Its Christmas time… Kelly and Matt just moved to Singapore not long ago and wanted to capture this year’s family photos at a location that is uniquely Singapore. For the past 4 years, I have been photographing family outside our studio… many love the unique side of Singapore, be it the leafy Botanic Garden to vibrant color of Emerald Hill to their own space at home. Most of the location of choice generally depict the “space” that the family enjoy and hence the need to preserve part of this memories.

Anyway, when we started the session with Kelly’s family, Sophia (the youngest) decided it is time not to be in the photos… hahaha… I guess this is the most interesting part of my work as winning the trust of the little people is an art all together as there isn’t one fit all solution and I love it when I win their trust. This is the thing that keep me going each and every time… its the fun of interaction.

I love it when clients send me feedback/testimonial… let me assure you… I am not perfect in anyway… I do have clients send me email and tell me they don’t like the pictures… I had 2 this year…

Here is what Kelly wrote me on the email:

Dear Hart,
Thank you so much for the beautiful family photos!  Your calm and laid back attitude, combined with your expertise, really made for a successful photo shoot.  You captured so many split second smiles and moments with our little ones – we will treasure these images forever.
Fondly,
Kelly and Matt Doktor

I wish everyone is well during this festive season.

Home Session with Veronica

Veronica wanted some images that the family can cherish and wanted to do the session at home as his 10 months old feels the best at home.

The session started about 8am and took a good 40 minutes or so before the little boy feels tired… the shoot went really well and I am happy to see such a warm connection between the parents and the child and it makes recording part of memories for them very rewarding.

Veronica is kind enough to drop be a testimonial which read:

‘We loved working with Hart. He has really captured the essence and spirit of our family in his photos. He was also very good in interacting with our 10 month old baby and making him smile!’

I love it when I could make someone laugh and feel warm when looking through the memories of their family through photography. I thank God for such a wonderful gift.

Here are some images I took for Veronica and her families…

Studio Family Photography with cute little baby….

I recently did a session with a family and I learn it rather quickly that the baby love water so I decide to try something different and have the baby in the “tub” with water…but shoot it inside the studio so i can use studio flash to capture the droplets as he splash and isolate the subject.

Julien was really cranky towards the end of the session which is normal for baby who don’t have their nap… However, as a professional photographer, you will have to get some decent shots regardless of the situation.

I was glad that my clients are over the moon when they saw the pictures and send me a testimonial that reads:

We knew that we wanted to capture images of Julien with all his impish impressions and Hart was able to do that perfectly.
The photos turned out excellent! Julien will now have memories that will grow up with him.
Hart’s extremely professional and handled the tired and cranky baby very well towards the end of the shoot without comprising the pictures.

Many thanks to Hart

Outdoor Family Photography at Botanic Garden with Fagan’s family

It was a lovely morning with beautiful light at Botanic Gardens when we have the session with Lorraine and family…

My vision in photography is to capture the individuality of the people and the connection in their family. So every session is unique as there are no 2 families are the same and no 2 people in this world behave the same.

We have a very happy and fun family with a little boy who loves his ball and bubbles….

I hope you like them as much as I do…

Regards,

Hart

Late evening at East Coast Park with Claudie & Adrian – Family Photography Singapore

I think it is time for me to update my blogs as I have been neglecting it… I will do my best to update my experience in capturing memories for my clients and why I like the particular images.

As much as I love to, I can’t post every single shoot as much as each shoot is different from others…

Anyway, here is a session I did in End of July. We did the session in late afternoon at East Coast Park. My favorite location for session as it is relax, breezy and also offers perfect setting for family portrait, beach, greenery, big trees, open space, etc.

Claudie contacted me for a family session and warn me that it is very difficult to get the smiling shots of her daughter… but on the contrary, I thought it was relatively easy… The trick to make a child love is very simple… play with them and be genuine. I prefer natural looking smile and my vision is to capture the beautiful side of my subject so they remember when they grow up.

Claudie and Adrian was thrilled with the results and send me the testimonial via email that reads:

Our inquiry to Hart for some family shots has been a bit of a last minute one I have to admit, as we thought this could be a great birthday present to Nan, while my parents in law were visiting us in Singapore (and were close to departure).

It probably might not have been the usual way Hart worked, as he explained to us he would usually try to take the time to get to know a bit more his customers, especially  the younger ones, in order they can warm to him and feel more comfortable in front of the camera, still he managed to win our daughters with his friendly way and sense of humour in no time.

I think the smile on Eloise’s face definitely shows that she enjoyed the session as much as we did. Actually, Hart,  you did manage almost the impossible : making her smile in front of the camera is a challenge, and, you passed it easily ;-).

We are very delighted with all the photos, they look natural and spontaneous. They capture us as we are, nothing less, however with a caring eye for details more. You can tell Hart loves his works and it perspires through his photos.  Many many thanks again for wonderful life time memories. Claudie and Adrian “

As much as I love my life as a photographer, client’s kind words reinforce my belief in preserving memories for my clients….
